On April 4, 1977, a group of university professors met in the Grace Dodge Room at Teachers College, Columbia University. Out of the meeting came the Society for the Study of Curriculum History (SSCH) which held its first meeting March 27, 1978 at the Sheraton Centre Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Ever since, the SSCH meet annually to encourage scholarly study of curriculum history and provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of inquiries into curriculum history.
